February in Iceland can be cold and gray but luckily it is the shortest month of the year so soon the spring will come. I always need to make goals once in a while, and for this month I decided to go for a long walk every day. I like walking in beautiful nature and it's even better in good company.

Borgarmynd is the maker of these amazing illustrated maps of Reykjavík. They also made a map of Iceland where you can find nice hotspots and se some beautiful photos of that place. The maps are all hand draw and painted with watercolors, this is just amazing!

2 Cozy garden in Reykjavík

We where invited to a cozy garden in Reykjavík. The lady of the house has planted lovely tulips in pink and yellow and some cherry blossom tree. The family enjoys gathering around for a brunch on the porch.

5 Loft in 107 Reykjavík
This week we visited a young couple who live in a cozy loft in Reykjavík.
One of them is a visual artist who makes these very interesting paintings of children's emotions.
Their loft is about 20 sqm but they manage to make it very neat and comfy.

1 What is now!
"Sasa", in the African Kiswahili language, means "What is now".
The Sasa Clock by the Icelandic designer Þórunn Árnadóttir encourages us to relax and let time flow without following every tick tack-ing second.
In some places around the world, people control time rather that it controlling them. They perceive time as speeding up when activities speed up and slowing down when its time to rest.

In our speed-up life we need to be able to liberate ourselves from the clock, literally. In these cases, the design offer you to take a break from the time and simply remove the beads from the carousel and wear them as a necklace.
The time is read from a necklace of wooden beads placed over a slowly turning carousel. As the carousel rotates, a bead slips down the cord every 5 minutes. The last bead to have dropped indicates the time.

5 Home tour in Reykjavik.
This week's visit is to a lovely home in Reykjavik. The residences, a couple in their fifties, lived and studied in Sweden two decades ago. Even though their beautiful apartment isn't all that big it rooms a lot of nice things where every piece is eye-catching both by itself and as a part of the whole. This is probably not surprising given that an talented architect trained in planning, design and overseeing and influenced by the great Scandinavian designers, lives there.

We where invited to a beautiful apartment downtown Reykjavik.
The residences, a lovely young couple have gathered all sorts of beautiful things from the early years of last century. Most of the things are gifts from family and friends but some a treasure, found at a second hand store or eBay and bought dirt cheap.

0 A small apartment in Reykjavik
This week we visited a young couple in Reykjavík. The residents are both multimedia designers and live and breathe in a creative environment. They recently bought this 70 sqm basement and showed us the improvements they've made. One of the biggest changes they made was enlarging the door opening to the garden and put a window on the wall between the kitchen and the living room allowing more light to reach the kitchen.
The atmosphere is very warm and it is obvious that every object is carefully chosen.

We were invited to a lovely home of a young tailor living in the heart of Reykjavík.
The home reflects her life pretty well and in just few minutes you feel like you know her.
A collection of old frames she painted white holds all her beloved in one place and the world map which is fitted to a cork has red pins that show all the places she has visited.

1 Cozy apartment in Reykjavík

We were invited to a lovely home in Reykjavik.
The residents love to gather beautiful things from second-hand stores and after little improvement the furniture look like new. The chairs around the dining table are bought one at a time but all painted in white they make such a nice set. The pictures hanging over the blue chair have the same blue color in them as the chair does and are made of textile.
Exercise bar is not a common sight in kitchens but this new fun addition to kitchen devices is used surprisingly often by the children while the dinner is being prepared.
