0 Eames love

I have always been a big Eames fan and I got even more in love with Charles and Ray Eames after watching the great documentary about their life, Eames: the Architect and the Painter.
Their house was amazing and so creative, I really like how they play with forms!

1 A mood setter

photo via: finnishdesignshop.com / google.co.uk

When the day begins to shorten I find myself thinking about lighting.
The Octo lamp designed by the Finnish architect Seppo Koho has a wooden shade that gives this smooth and comfortable light.
This fella can play an important role in setting a cozy atmosphere if you need one.

2 The perfect design

The "Eameses" have been constantly changing throughout the years, ever since the first one was launched around 1950. The diversity in the design responds to the ever changing needs of the customer and it's easy to say that they have mastered the trade. Today almost everyone can find a chair from the Eames family that fits their room and in addition to the style it's both comfortable and practical being wipe clean.

1 What is now!

"Sasa", in the African Kiswahili language, means "What is now".

The Sasa Clock by the Icelandic designer Þórunn Árnadóttir encourages us to relax and let time flow without following every tick tack-ing second.

In some places around the world, people control time rather that it controlling them. They perceive time as speeding up when activities speed up and slowing down when its time to rest.

In our speed-up life we need to be able to liberate ourselves from the clock, literally. In these cases, the design offer you to take a break from the time and simply remove the beads from the carousel and wear them as a necklace.

The time is read from a necklace of wooden beads placed over a slowly turning carousel. As the carousel rotates, a bead slips down the cord every 5 minutes. The last bead to have dropped indicates the time.

0 Bird feeder

photo: borninsweden.se

The bird feeder is a clever design made by Pascal Charmolu of Made in Sweden. He is a French-born designer who learned and lives in Sweden.
In January we need to think about the birdies who struggle finding something in their pecks.
This cool bird-feeder fits on the window and gives you a close-up view of our feathered friends.
You can buy one here!

0 Lipstick stains and drip drops.

We love the beautiful bone china ceramics by the British- Japanese designer Reiko Kaneko.
Her products are an inimitable blend of English and Japanese style with her own personal touch.
The Dip Tease and Lip Tease collections are my favorite, where unwanted marks and stains like lipstick stain and drip drops, become desirable decorative details.

0 For now until I can afford...

One of my favorite classical design is a lamp called Artichoke designed by the danish Poul Henningsen.
The lamp is created by 72 leaves, overlapping each other, giving distinct unique illumination allowing you to view it from any angle without seeing the light source in the center.
Since the lamp is out of my pricerange I will have to keep on dreaming about it or...
make one out of paper in my favorite color.
All you need is wire-frame spherical paper lanterns, tissue paper circles and double-sided tape.

Start at the bottom of the lantern, use small squares of tape to begin attaching tissue-paper disks around the hole. Make sure they're overlapping. Work toward the top, continue sticking and overlapping disks to cover the lantern until the lamp looks like the ones in the picture below :)

0 Snowglobe

When the winter arrives with its harshness I find it relevant to switch some of my things for others that represent the season better. Snoweglobes are one  of those things.
Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz make the most beautiful snowglobes you have ever seen.

3 Fresh ideas

Det mondene skur is a Danish company that sells kitchen furnishing, hardware and all sorts of gadgets in addition to bringing a new solution into kitchen design. The kitchen they make are unique for many things. To mention few the company specializes in using some of the kitchen's old furnishing and devises when renovating and fit it very neatly into the new kitchen. It's distinctive feature is that tiles are laid on the tabletop and on the sides around the drawers and the cabinets. It's also common to see a part of an old tabletop within the shiny table-tiles and an old shelf painted in pastel color hanging on the wall above.
The overall look is neat and cozy in my opinion.
